Play Six: A Fine Balance

Today is in celebration of the 100th year anniversary of Women first being given the vote in the UK. However, we’re also going to acknowledge that women didn’t actually get equal voting rights to men until 1928, today’s prompt is: ‘Still Not Equal.’

And to reflect modern times, I’d love you to write it in the style of a farce, if you like (or whatever you conceive to be farce in these days)!

[…]  you get bonus points if you drop in surprise celebrity appearances from the following feminists: Emily Pankhurst, Simone De Beauvoir, Germaine Greer, and Oprah Winfrey.

I don’t know if you can call a bunch of celebrities stuck in a Crystal Maze room a farce, but if you can, then criteria met!

I wouldn’t say it’s a work of art, and being set such a feminist task, I’m surprised my brain worked so hard to avoid writing anything that could be construed as feminist… But still, I wrote a short play in which the above women, and Ellen Degeneres (all hail) try and balance a giant pair of scales in a Crystal Maze task. Literally… Yup.

A Fine Balance

Day One: Fight Song.

Day Two: So What, The Deer’s Some Kind of Metaphor?

Day Three: A Celestial Experience.

Day Four: A Summer’s Day.

Day Five: Bang.
